Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE)

Charles McElroy, a Visalia Imaging interventional radiologist, is experienced in this technique of treating uterine fibroids without surgery. With the use of x-rays as a guide, a thin tube is inserted at the top of the thigh into the uterine artery.

Microspheres, small, round gel-like particles, are injected into the artery causing blockage of blood flow which results in shrinkage of the fibroids. This unique, non-surgical approach to treating symptomatic uterine fibroids is performed by Dr. McElroy as an inpatient at Kaweah Delta Hospital.
